Silverado Tri-Cab Work Truck- “Well Used”

This build is a patina/rust effect build using Testors flat rust colored brush on paint. The casting started out as a Hot Wheels ’83 Chevy Silverado single cab short bed. The cab was made into a 6 door, and the bed was lengthened to a longbed.
#1- This pic shows the casting that has the modifications and body work done. It is ready to start the patina/rusty paint job.
#2- First layer of paint was black, to become “new” replacement parts. Masking tape was put over the black. The next 2 pics show the primer is sprayed as the base coat, and ready to receive the rust color.
#3-The rust colored paint is streaked on with a dried brush, on the areas you wish to show rust.
#4- The top coat color has now been sprayed. I chose a light tan.
#5- The following pics show the masking tape removed, revealing the “new” black replacement parts.
#6- The top coat has been lightly sanded(medium & fine grit), to reveal the base coat primer and painted rust areas. The more sanding done, the more that came through. I had to sand carefully, as to not to go through the paint down to the metal.
#7- Here a pictures of the finished and assembled truck. I added a few accessories, to make it look more like a realistic old work truck.
Thank you for checking out my Silverado build!
